Privacy Policy

Last updated April 9, 2026 · Effective April 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how TechSync Software Pvt Ltd (“TechSync,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and discloses personal data when you use the TechSync service, including the TechSync web application, the VS Code and JetBrains plugins, the TechSync Slack and GitHub apps, and our public websites at techsync.io and docs.techsync.io (collectively, the “Service”).

1. Who we are

TechSync is a Pakistan-registered company (Islamabad HQ, Lahore engineering) with an additional trading entity in the United Kingdom (TechSync UK Ltd, London). For UK and EEA customers, our UK entity is the controller of record under UK GDPR. For all other customers, our Pakistan entity is the controller. You can reach our Data Protection Officer at privacy@techsync.io.

2. Data we collect

We collect three categories of data:

  • Account data — your name, work email, workspace name, team memberships, role, and authentication details. Provided when you sign up or when a workspace admin invites you.
  • Customer content — the issues, cycles, docs, standup updates, comments, and attachments you create inside a TechSync workspace. This content is controlled by the workspace; we are a processor for it.
  • Service data — logs, device metadata, approximate IP location, and product usage analytics. We use this to operate the Service and to debug.

3. How we use data

We use account and service data to provide, secure, and improve the Service, to bill you, to communicate about your account, and to comply with legal obligations. We use customer content only to make the Service work for the workspace that owns it — to display it to permitted users, to route it to integrations the workspace configures, and to deliver it to Sync (our support agent, when customers opt in to use it). We do not train any model on your customer content.

4. Legal bases (UK/EEA)

For UK and EEA users we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Service), legitimate interest (to secure the Service and to debug), consent (for marketing emails and for optional analytics cookies, which you control at first visit and from the footer), and legal obligation (for tax, audit, and compliance).

5. How long we retain data

Customer content lives in your workspace until you delete it. When a workspace is cancelled, we retain the workspace in a recoverable state for 30 days, then hard-delete. Logs and service data are retained for up to 13 months. Billing records are retained for 7 years as required by applicable tax law.

6. Sharing and subprocessors

We do not sell your data. We share data only with subprocessors who operate the Service on our behalf (cloud hosting, transactional email, analytics, customer support), with the Slack, GitHub, Google, and Microsoft integrations you connect, and where required by law. A current list of subprocessors is maintained at /legal/subprocessors.

7. International transfers

Customer content is stored in AWS eu-west-1 (Dublin) for customers in the UK/EEA, and in AWS us-east-1 (N. Virginia) for all other customers. Cross-border transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

8. Your rights

If you are in the UK, EEA, California, or a comparable jurisdiction, you have rights of access, rectification, deletion, portability, and objection. For workspace content, your workspace admin acts on your behalf. For account data, you can reach us at privacy@techsync.io and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Security

We encrypt data at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+). We run quarterly external penetration tests and hold a SOC 2 Type II report, which is available under NDA to customers on request. See  Data Processing Addendum  for full details.

10. Changes

We’ll post material changes here and email workspace admins at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
